OPTOSMART - optoelectronic and smart systems

The OptoSmart Company was born in 2005 as a spin-off company from the joint-venture of some of the most important Italian research centers which are working since many years on new technologies. Today an hi-speed growing request of hi-performances with low costs is bringing up Optosmart to invest resources to provide a wide range of products and services for structures, processes and environment monitoring. The Optosmart's activity satisfy the current needs in many sectors, such as civil, aerospace, automotive, industrial and environmental, which their aims are the reducing the costs and the increasing the automation and the security. These results have got from an efficient coordination between R&D and design and engineering sectors of Optosmart. It needs to integrate optoelectronics, materials engineering, mechanical and aeronautical skills. The Optosmart's aim is an integrated sensing-actuating system to realize "smart systems" able to work by adjusting its self to the enviromental conditions. Today many solutions are available but the real improvement is to create a system which could be "embedded" into everything without modifing its own features. That's what OptoSmart is for!
What do we do ?
The OptoSmart company offers the design, optimization and installation of high quality custom systems for environmental and structural monitoring, industrial process control and special apparatus for research centers. Single or multiple sensors are able to perform real-time monitoring in every condition of application. In the structural monitoring sector, the attention of the company is put on fiber optical sensing systems designed by Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) for in situ and real time monitoring of the static and dynamic deformation in aeronautical, civil, railway, aerospace and naval applications. In the environment monitoring sector, the company proposes different solutions founded on the integration between fiber optic and sensible and selective materials (refractometric sensors) for pesticides, organic volatile compounds, pollutant monitoring in air and in liquids.
Who are we ?
One of the key-points of the OptoSmart company is the very efficient team-work, in which each discipline is developed to guarantee an high quality standard. That's why a group of persons has come together to share their various competences to create a very flexible high technology reality directly connected to the every day life of every one.

Electronic engineers	This is the part of OptoSmart which is able to create the optical systems for our instruments and the optical to electrical conversion units. They design the optical instruments managing software and the specific sensors for every applications.

Chemical engineers	Chemical sensing and polymers process control are provided by a specialized personnel, which are able to create environment sensors and to analyze the acquired data from the environment monitoring tests.

Materials engineers	The OptoSmart team is real complete with the engineers who provide to study of the interaction between the sensors and the external environment from civil to aeronautical fields. They also provide to design and realize process control apparatus.
